Our Proud Tradition
The Butterfield heritage stretches back to 1858, when a merchant trading firm founded by the entrepreneurial Nathaniel T Butterfield became The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited. Its London based, private banking arm was incorporated under previous ownership in 1979 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited in 2001.
